A National Federation of ANTaRs
ANTaR Victoria is part of a national body comprising state and territory ANTaR branches. Each state/territory ANTaR works within their local state or territory to raise community awareness for native title and reconciliation.
ANTaR National is a national advocacy organisation dedicated specifically to the rights - and overcoming the disadvantage - of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The national organization lobbies federal parliament (for example, on the 2011 federal budget), and runs national campaigns (such as Sea of Hands and ‘Are We There Yet?’ reconciliation campaigns) that are able to be picked up by state/territory-based ANTaRs.
ANTaR Victoria
ANTaR Victoria is a network of individuals and local reconciliation groups working at the grassroots level in their own communities to raise awareness of reconciliation and indigenous issues.
ANTaR Victoria is governed by a Committee of Management of ten individuals elected by ANTaR Victoria members, who determine the over-all direction of ANTaR Victoria and oversees the organisation’s work.
The Committee is elected by ANTaR Victoria’s 400 members – individuals who support ANTaR Victoria with financial donations, and are kept regularly updated with the organisation’s campaigns and local and national indigenous news.
ANTar Victoria hires two staff members to oversee the daily running of the organization, and to implement projects and campaigns – the Office and Volunteer Co-ordinator, Jem Bamford, and Book-Keeper, Jing Zhou.
Volunteers in the Melbourne office, and in local reconciliation groups across Victoria are the heart and soul of ANTaR Victoria, and generate real change in their local communities – ANTaR Victoria exists to support these local initiatives, and create social change for a reconciled Australia.
