Help ANTaR Vic keep Victoria respectful!
Dear Friends,
Many of you shared our disbelief last week at the government's apparent disrespectful backflip on Acknowledgment of Country protocols. Many of you joined us in questioning how a brief acknowledgement of our shared cultural heritage could possibly interfere with the business of government. Now we ask you to join us in restoring respect for the First Peoples.
ANTaR Victoria has launched a new website just in time to coordinate a response to the Baillieu Government's stance on Acknowledgement of Country. ANTaR Vic was formed more than a decade ago by community resistance, so we're firm believers in people power.
We're asking our partner organisations to help us in this effort by sharing the link to our new website! There, concerned Victorians can sign up to our eNews updates and find out how to be more involved in acknowledging Traditional Owners.
With your help, we know we can grow a community-driven campaign for the reinstatement of Acknowledgment of Country at all official events.
How can your organisation help?

On the same theme of respect, we want to make sure that the up-coming consultations for constitutional recognition of the nation’s First Peoples reflect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' aspirations – we need recognition and a re-thinking of the nation. ANTaR Vic has some specially printed post cards to help raise awareness about this issue, but we need your help to distribute them!
Please ring our office 03 9419 3613 for campaign materials.

We're also inviting like-minded community organisations to a meeting for discussion of these issues. Please email our office at antar@antarvictoria.org.au if you'd like to be involved in this meeting!
