Traditional Owner Acknowledgment Plaques

ANTaR Victoria sells acknowledgment plaques (pictured below) for use on office doors, on school, university, residential and farm buildings and fences, on municipal properties, business premises etc.

We sell acknowledgement plaques with the agreement of two groups of Traditional Owners - the Woiwurrung / Wurundjeri peoples of the greater Melbourne region (except for the immediate bay side areas), and the Dja Dja Wrung / Jaara peoples of central Victoria, on whose traditional lands are found the cities of Kyneton, Bendigo, Pyramid Hill, Boort, Charlton, Donald, St Arnaud, Avoca, Creswick, Daylesford, Castlemaine and Maryborough, and the many smaller settlements within that general region.

These plaques are made of metal and are available in small & large sizes (14cm x 22cm and 30cm x 45cm)

We are also trialling a plaque for use in other areas of Victoria where agreement on boundaries has not been reached by Traditional Owner groups. The wording for the plaque acknowledging Aboriginal people as the traditional owners, pictured below, has the endorsement of the Victorian Corporation for Aboriginal Languages. These plaques are being introduced an an interim measure and should not be seen to replace acknowledgement that names specific Tradional Owner groups. We will continue to develop specific plaques for particular Tradional Owner groups wherever possible.

This plaque is only available in small size (14cm x 22cm).

If any one would like to develop a plaque along these lines, in consultation with the local Traditional Owners , please contact ANTaR Victoria.
