Music
project with Koori Kids
FTF Project worker Gary
Lucas was involved with a music project for Koori kids who had either
left school and not gained employment or who were at risk of being
kicked out of school. The schools allocated one day per week for
the kids to participate in the course.
Local Koori musician Andy
Alberts coordinated and ran the course with assistance from a number
of other local musos who donated their time.
About 15 kids who participated with
a core group of eight. The kids participated in writing, singing,
technical and business elements of the industry.
In the last four to five weeks they produced
a CD and DVD of their work, which were launched at a community concert
and barbecue attended by about eighty people.
