FTF Feedback and Quotes

Every now and again, as a blackfella in Australia, I get really frustrated over race relations in this country with its attendant attitudes. But then I only have to think of the kind of whitefellas I meet who work in ANTaR. I hate to say it: “but they are a credit to their race”.

It takes courage to do what they do. To go to the depths of racism and interrogate ourselves rather than study others. ANTaR personnel I have met, have displayed great strength, integrity and courage because they have embarked on that journey of “Physician, Heal Thyself".

The recognition of Indigenous Australians as the first Australians provides all Australians the opportunity to gain some sense of respectability and accountability in terms of the past and current
treatment of Indigenous people.

ANTaR provides the soul that Australia so badly needs in these
days of uncertainty.

One of the areas for reconciliation is in the education of the non-Indigenous population and in this ANTaR is forever striving to accomplish.

For society to function as best it can amongst the reality
of bigotry and racism, an organisation like ANTaR is much needed to aid in overcoming ingrained prejudices and misconceptions.

ANTaR is committed to working ‘with’ Aboriginal Australians. They have already proven that theycan successfully mount campaigns in support of Aboriginal concerns and their work has been endorsed by many Aboriginal people Australia wide.

Because of the networks and goodwill they have already established I believe that ANTaR is in a unique position to coordinate an education program which goes further than cultural awareness ie into the realms of decolonising the hearts and minds of non-Aboriginal Australians. A process which I believe must occur before true reconciliation can take place in this country.
